What up fam and welcome to another edition of Prim’s Plugs with yours truly the bearded bar master Primitive and my special guest B.Raw. We caught up with my long-time friend, hip hop associate and Rah! Records label-mate B.Raw for a quick chat about what she’s been up to and where she’s at.

I’ve rocked many a stage with B.Raw over the years and it’s been an honour to witness the evolution and growth that comes through dedication, passion and commitment. B.Raw is an energetic, beautiful soul that gives her all for grass roots hip hop. Not all heroes wear capes. 

Oh, and her music is fucking dope!

Thanks for your time B.Raw. How long have you been making music/creating? 
 
About 5 years since 2019.
 
What’s your ideal creative environment?
 
My ideal creative environment I like starting off super zen so I’ll meditate at the start of the day. Then probably hit a spliff and play some boom bap/old-school beats
 
What inspires you?
 
Going on long train rides and watching the world pass by. Earphones in book out.
 
Did you grow up with music in your home?
 
Yes. My mother plays piano and guitar and both her and my sister sing. Surrounded by music.

Who are you listening to these days?  
 
I’m listening to Doechii, Barkaa, JID, little simz.
 

What does music give you?

Music gives me an escape to feel how I wanna feel. Whether it’s sad, happy or just vibing out. 

 What do you write about?
 
I try to write about personal experiences but relate it in a way everyone can understand what it was like going through that and maybe people listening have experienced similar. I love using word play having fun with it also. 
 
What’s next for you?
 
Got a new music video for my single ‘Don’t Sleep’ dropping soon!
 
Funniest moments in music?
 
Funniest moments, we definitely have plenty. The label travels around and we get the opportunity to have overnighters which is great when you have a sleep night terror screamer on board!
Definitely a great way to wake up to your first night with the team! Thanks Jimmy the hand we love you.

Big ups to B.Raw for taking the time to share some of her story and musical journey with us. One of my favourite people on planet Earth. Can’t wait to see you at another show.

    I love B.Raw – she is one of the dopest people I know and I’m so stoked we get to make music together.

    And the same goes for the bearded legend, Primitive. I’m truly blessed by these wonderful people being in my life.
